In 2009 Fossil Studios was born, transforming a warehouse in lower Clapton into a state of the art recording studio and living space.
Raz has since worked with an array of artists, including Gilles Peterson, Lemar, Nathaniel Rateliff, Krust, MJ Cole, Bishi and Sam Lee, for his 2012 Barclaycard Mercury Prize nominated album ‘A Ground of its Own.’ Raz has also worked with Ebe Oke (for the album ‘Valor 2011’ – one of Brian Eno’s Top 10 albums that year), South Africa’s Thandiswa Mazwai (2010 World Cup Opening Ceremony) and in 2012 co-wrote and produced a UK Charts number 1 hit record 'Bom Bom' by Sam & The Womp, now exceeding over 1 million sales worldwide. Recently Raz has been producing and writing with Ayanna Witter- Johnson, Lady Chann the UK Queen of Dancehall and Thabo (Thabo & The Real Deal) soul extraordinaire, alongside personal projects, Rubato, a three-piece classical contemporary group and Bassically, a 6-piece house music collective. Alongside music production, Raz has written for feature lengths and documentaries, including ‘Encore’ (2007), ‘Ed’s Story' (2010), ‘Raw Muscle’ (2011) ‘The Last Ten’ (2011), 'True Appaloosa' (2014), ‘The Ninth Cloud’ set and filmed in East London and starring French actor Jean Hugh Anglade (Killing Joe/ Nikita) and Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs/ Kill Bill) due out in 2014. Most recently he's written the score for ‘Twelve’ a short starring 2011 Bafta winning actress Monica Dolan (Appropriate Adult) and has created the sound design for 'Not Ever' starring Emilia Fox (The Pianist) featuring original music from Roger O'Donnell (The Cure). |
